What is the difference between a chevy 150 and 210

Ok here are the pictures. It don't matter to me. Its just a surface rusted 4 door. I actually prefer vehicles without any trim. Joined: Apr 18, Posts: Profile Page. Old Wolf, your car is a The giveaways are the single trim line down the length of the body and the trim holes below the windows, and the B in the vin. The BelAir dash trim is from a 55 embossed bowties, 56 were rectangles and added at a later point.

It don't matter to me I had been trying to sell it. Have now decided to keep it. It already has a 55 front cap. Im going to fill the trim holes. Joined: Feb 20, Posts: Profile Page. The second photo is a belair 2dr hardtop 'sport coupe'. Disclaimer: I'm a tri-five geek and have studied the documentation quite a bit. If no monkey business has happened with the vin tag exercise caution with cars whose vin tag is not still attached using the factory spot welds , then the vin will tell the factory delivered trim line.

Also, if the car still has it's cowl tag on the firewall, it should also confirm the factory delivered trim line of the car.

I said 'factory delivered' because Some cars are a hodge-podge of trim bits. I agree with the characterization that people will lump all three model lines into the generic description of 'Belair', when the car may not technically be a Belair. It's a longer story, but I had a guy jump down my throat about 15 years ago at car show when I asked a question about his recently purchased He was seething with anger that I would call his car a , when he practically shouted it's a Belair.

I asked him if his vin contained a 'B' at the beginning. He gave me a puzzled look, and then shouted it's a Belair. The car clearly was trimmed as a I had my HT like the one pictured in my avatar at a carshow. The HT was re-introduced the middle of the '55 model year and continued through '57 - they were sold in far less numbers than the Belair HT's.

The reason I have a HT is my dad had one when I was born. The photo in my avatar is my dad's HT which he sold in the mid 60's. Last edited: Oct 26, Joined: Nov 23, Posts: 5, Profile Page. This subject has been covered very well - but it brings to mind something that still exists to this day, even among "car guys" that should know better.

And that is: a lot of folks call ANY 2-door sedan tri-fives a "". Where did that come from? I keep telling them until I'm blue in the face, that a is a trim package, not a body style! They'd have to know the difference between a body style and a trim level to understand you.

Good luck with that. Because of its inexpensive but efficient build, the worked well as a fleet car for businesses and government organizations.

Any institution that required its workers to use standard-issue vehicles was likely to buy the Chevy in bulk and customize it. One prominent example was the police force. Many s police cars were s. Accordingly, the is the model of choice for many current-day film and television depictions of s police cars. Where the other three Tri-Five models bore a variety of visual features, the had few. It was designed to be efficient rather than attractive.

Next to a Bel Air, it might be seen as bland because the vehicle looked much less sleek than its counterparts. Besides the lack of chrome trim, it also had less prominent tail fins and headlight lids. The was never released in a convertible form. What it lacked in aesthetics, it made up for in speed.

With its 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, the was a favorite of drag racers. The Black Widow was specifically designed for drag racing and was equipped with heavy-duty brakes and dual shock absorbers. Like the Chevy , the was discontinued in and was replaced by the Delray. This legacy ensures that it remains valuable to Tri-Five enthusiasts today. They may not be produced anymore, but there are still plenty around from the s.

If you know what to look for, you can find some good options for a surprisingly low cost. Here are some tips to keep in mind when shopping for a Tri-Five car:. The first thing to determine is the application you have in mind for your Tri-Five car. Do you want to have a perfectly restored model that looks like it came off the assembly line? Or do you want a less expensive project car that you can restore and modify yourself? Different cars are sold with different intentions in mind — whether that be modification or preservation.

Aim to find a vehicle that best fits your needs and intended application. As you look for options and make a purchase, keep in mind what you want to do with your car once you have it fixed up.

Whether you plan to modify it or not, you know a station wagon will give you more storage space than a sedan. While you look around, consider how you picture yourself using the car. If you plan to use it for road trips with lots of baggage, a Nomad might be a good investment.

Each model has advantages that may be more valuable to you depending on your end goal. With the help of your favorite search engine, you can have a whole list of dealers and other marketplace sites displayed for you in seconds. The great news here is that you can afford to be picky. Do some initial research on which dealers are reputable before you start getting serious in your search. If you find an option that fulfills some of your goals but not all of them, keep looking to see if someone else has a better option.

Old cars rust very easily , even restored ones, and you want to be aware of any issues before you sign on the dotted line. Take special care to look in areas where water might accumulate after a rain, like the floor braces. Look for signs of body work or a quick paint job that may be covering up damage or corrosion. But where can you find new parts for cars that were manufactured 70 years ago? Look no further than Raybuck Auto Body Parts.

Some modern features you may consider are dics brakes,as well as modern duel master cylinder. IAM the owner of a 55 Chevrolet.

Great point Cliff. Disc brakes and a power master cylinder make a huge difference in braking performance. Also, installing a dual master cylinder makes the vehicle much more safe to drive.

Re: Difference between '55 and Models PM - Post In response to pillman Hey pillman, The is the most basic out of the 2 models. The series has no trim down the sides and the series has trim only from the door back There are alot of other diffs in trim etc There were also only series built compared to series built.

Re: Difference between '55 and Models AM - Post In response to pillman was the plainjane in the series. No stainless side trim. Then the midrange , with 'basic' stainless side trim, nicer upholstry, strng wheel had hornring and 2 spokes, plain dash. Clocks, radios, heaters were optional on all models, as were V8s and auto trans. V8s had hood Vs and V emblems below the taillites. Then the top of the line BelAir with all the 'fancy' stuff. Value is only what someone is willing to pay.

Re: Difference between '55 and Models AM - Post In response to gary7 That being so, I should start seeing counterfeit s made from s or maybe even BelAirs [insert the smiley face here to illustrate my well-adjusted temperment and easy-going style].
