Can you cleanse malzahar ult
Read our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy to get more information and learn how to set up your preferences. This discussion is strictly about pro-level Malzahar. This is not a whine about how he's annoying in solo queue, or how his kit is too easy or anything of that nature. There are complaints to be made there, but this is not that post. For anyone who doesn't follow the pro-scene closely, let me quickly explain the effect that Malzahar has.
Firstly, it is important to note that he has no particularly bad matchups mid, and thus is a fairly safe first pick in most situations. This on its own is not particularly problematic. Some other midlaners have similar traits, such as Ryze and Orianna.
He forces the opponent to take QSS, a g item. At the pro-level, many midlaners buy this item on their first or second back. Furthermore, once bought the Malzahar will not ult them anymore, and hence this g is frequently then useless. Then the support has to buy it, and the top lane. It is not infrequent to see 4 or 5 QSS on a pro-team playing against Malzahar. Furthermore, QSS cannot be upgraded into a mage item, so many midlaners cannot make further use of the item later into the game.
It becomes a dead slot in their inventory. This early gold purchase on the opposing midlane has a warping effect. Malzahar is already difficult to push against, but when AP and mana is delayed g, it becomes almost impossible.
Malzahar should lose strength due to the loss of his ult, but the reality is that the loss of g means the opposing laner loses a lost chapter of damage and mana. This loss compensates for the loss of Malzahar's ult damage.
So in the 1v1, it is essentially an even trade: Malzahar loses ult damage, opposing mid loses AP damage, neither can kill each other. The game is not 1v1 however.
Edit Void Shift. Void Shift will not resist allied crowd control nor will it be deactivated by them. Void Shift will not mitigate true damage but the buff will still be consumed. It does not deactivate against the Nexus Obelisk. Shields will take priority over Void Shift , but the buff will still be consumed does not reduce damage inflicted. Void Shift triggers even if the shield negated the damage entirely. However, if Malzahar has a spell shield and the shield fully mitigates the damage, Void Shift does not trigger.
Spell shields take priority over Void Shift. If the triggering hostile ability does not contain a crowd control effect, both Void Shift and the spell shield break simultaneously.
Since spell shields are precedent over Void Shift , applied crowd control from effects that cannot be blocked by spell shields i. Wall of Pain will also ignore Void Shift despite its crowd control immunity. The effect must not damage Malzahar for this event to take place. Void Shift will specifically not deactivate if Malzahar eats Honeyfruit or is within a hostile Frozen Heart passive aura.
Void Shift will prevent Chum the Waters from attaching to him. Edit Call of the Void. Edit Void Swarm. Malzahar loses all stacks upon death. Zz'Rot Swarm stacks are gained per cast and not per ability activation. For example, if Malefic Visions is cast and the ability cancels under certain circumstances, a Zz'Rot Swarm stack will still be granted despite the ability's failure to complete.
Edit Malefic Visions. If the target becomes untargetable , dies, or Malzahar loses sight of them during the cast time, Malefic Vision cancels but its cooldown and mana are refunded.
Edit Nether Grasp. Null Zone will persist even if the channel is interrupted. Applies persistent damage for the tether and persistent area damage to enemies within the Null Zone. The tether will not break if the target enters a zombie state or enters resurrection. Removing the suppression will also remove the reveal. Nether Grasp and Null Zone count as two different abilities for effects such as Electrocute.
Malzahar places himself onto the ground and interrupts displacements affecting him upon starting the channel. The following table refers for interactions while Malzahar is channeling : Type Channel Attacking Disabled if attacking Nether Grasp target.
Otherwise interrupts after 0. Abilities Interrupts Movement Disabled for the first 0. Interrupts afterwards. New basic attack missiles and hit effects. Void Shift Reduced some of the noise from the shield. Made it a bit brighter to match other spell shields. Call of the Void New quickcast indicator to better represent its actual hitbox. New missile and hit effects.
Void Swarm New spawn effects and basic attacks. Malefic Visions New debuff effect and a beam effect when the debuff spreads to other enemies.
Nether Grasp New beam, hit, and AoE effects, including a more thematic pool. Hextech Malzahar Call of the Void Updated to show hitbox more clearly. Worldbreaker Malzahar Call of the Void Updated to show hitbox more clearly. Cleanse is already strong enough. The only CC it doesn't counter are channeled ultimates. Other ultimates that stun like Ashe and Lissandra don't impair their casters which is why they don't get suppression and they can be cleansed.
Allowing cleanse to deal with suppression, effectively removing the entire reason it exists in the first place, completely guts every champion that has suppression in their kit.
When a champion like Warwick or Malz casts their ult, they heavily expose themselves to every other enemy champion. That risk needs a reasonable reward to be worth it. The problem with is that you are basically redesigning champions that exist in a particular space hardcore lockdown so that they don't exist anymore in order to accommodate a summoner spell that prevents them from existing. Summoner spells don't really creat varied gameplay like champions do, specially not reactive summs like cleanse.
You shouldnt sacrifice a class of champions just for a summoner - specially when the game badly needs this kind of champ that can shutdown stuff like Samira, Yi, Yone Suppression can't be cleansed by cleanse or mikael's. It also completely disables summoner spells. You can normally cast non movement summoner spells while you're stunned. Pro tip: when playing Malzahar, imaging the enemy jungler guarantees that yours will win the smite contest.
Suppression locks the champion doing the suppression into that ability. Malz, ww, and skarner all can not use any other abilities during their ult. Not to the same degree as the others, but that's probably because he has to be able to get close to even use it, unlike Malz or WW. Gotta love how asking why Cleanse doesn't clear everything gets me insulted and down voted without anyone even giving an actual response to the question, like yea it would mean you could get cleanse vs skarner or malz as an adc or mid, And?
The thing is it wouldn't be a minor nerf to skarner, it would make him completely unplayable, and would take away the most unique aspect of his kit for no real benefit. Are you dumb? Malzahar is a terribad champion you genuinely think cleanse should work vs him? I know the riot tweet was ridiculous but cleanse is still decent against Malzahar his Q silence is insane, bonus points if they're running ignite.
It obviously doesn't work against his ult though lmao. It is because the way their algorithm work is certainly seeing the item being built by a champ in a game where malzahar is present and if it is has a strong WR, it become recommended. So the problem become that if people bought the item thinking it would help for the suppression but it doesn't, if they still win, it kind of skew the perception.
I got the same surprise in aram where I wanted to buy michael to counter the ennemy malzahar and And I get why but it is true that I think this kind of bias can happen. It's because it takes game length into consideration. You do not build defensive items against hypercarries early in the game, you do it when they reach 3rd item. Their algorithm is also incredibly stupid. If you are against an ap team and they have one ad threat, then they will recommend that you buy armor before mr.
The recommended shop is worse than before You're acting like most people won't use it even after lvl 30, that's unfortunately not true and the recommended tab is making people even lazier than they were before. Im even lazier. I just build the same shit every game depending on u.
Long sword addict. Zed is the classic champ to buy zh vs, but champs like Ziggs, lux, morgana, and veigar can get screwed too. The trouble is that it's on you to make good use of it rather than just advertise yourself as a target.
I still search for my items manually, I don't expect the recommended tab to be very helpful to me. Recommended items need to do little more than make sure the new Ashe builds generally ADC items and a mythic. Making that a little closer to optimal, or a notification "Last Whisper is good against Malphite" is nice but not needed.
Other avenues of learning are relied on more heavily. It still at least has value against Malz since it has MR, so even if the active is useless it has value, and there is almost always something to use the active on. Nah you're good. League players are too selfish to buy qss for themselves they wouldn't buy mikaels for their teammates even if it worked. Riot removed assassin skill floor in season 7.
I build Trinity Force on and Shieldbow on. Idk if it's still around but it also makes bramble vest show up as a good item vs Eve. Does make sense though, her E applies on-hits, meaning that bramble vest does proc against her and reduces her healing gained via the potential riftmaker and ravenous hunter.
Who the fuck builds riftmaker on Eve. I look the stats and it's not even there. There's no way bramble vest is a good item vs Eve. The reason it shows up vs Eve is probably because Eve most often goes together with AD top and that's why people build it against Eve teams. Revert QSS. It says it can't cleanse knockups, but how it actually works is that the item is disabled when you're in a knockup.
This is such a stupid change because of abilities like Thresh Q, where you get stunned for 1. If you have good timing and you QSS the hook right after you get hit, the change makes it so that the QSS does nothing and you have to press it again once you realize it didn't cleanse the stun. This also happens in cases Maokai presses W on you and Q's when he lands. You literally have to mash your QSS now while you're airborne from the Q in order to get rid of the W root.
If they wanted to get rid of the QSS-Flash interaction, I don't understand why they couldn't just make QSS into the cleanse summoner spell that also works on suppression. Idk why they even removed it, for me its bullshit that you cant counter knockups, even when you need a skill and to use a flash. Cleanse removes summoner spells ignite, exhaust while qss doesn't.
So there are a few more differences. Sidelane it is. It actually cleansed the suppression AND airborn status so that Yasuo couldn't ult you. Yasuo R is still QSSable because it's a suspension effect and not a knockup.
It acts similarly to nami bubble. EDIT: okay apparently you're locked out of QSS while being ulted by yasuo which is pretty dumb because it's still a cleansable cc by nature of oranges. Unlike other airbornes you can just walk out of it after you cleanse it. Makes me think that it should be hardcoded to not lock you out of QSS either. I am kind of skeptical about not being able to QSS yasuo ult still, need to test it out.
Yeah I just tested it after I started getting downvotes. Because you're airborne while it's happening, the preseason changes lock you out of QSS and its family specifically. You can still remove the cc and walk out of it like you used to be able to with something else The GP oranges I tried worked just fine.
So right now QSS does nothing to Yasuo, despite his ult still being a cleansable cc. I had a game where the enemy malzahar flamed me the support for not building mikaels for my adc, to itemize against his ult.
He said it so confidently that I questioned my knowledge, I thought for sure mikaels didn't cleanse suppresion. Afterwards I looked it up and what do you know, nothing had changed. True story, nothing embellished. I still remember it like it was yesterday. It does remove supression though! You just can't use it on yourself if you're supressed, because supression doesn't let you use any abilities, spells or items.
In game, the item does state it does not remove supressions. Yeah, I was checking a source with incorrect info so I went ahead and edited my comments after I checked in game for that. My bad! So I was the dumbass all along?
You can cleanse Malz R for your ally with mikael? Since when?? Has it been always like this? Void Pythagoras. Mikaels is good vs his silence and the slow of the eventual rylais, so maybe that's where the algorithm is taking its data from? Boxes of Shrooms. It doesn't matter what you believe in, facts will always be facts.
It removes his silence though. So it is still strong vs malz. Ya I mean lets be real, the only people really buying Mikaels are enchanter supports and a few outliers. They don't really have much in terms of defensive options, I build Mikaels all the time when they have a significant source of AP damage. This time, they die! Flairs are limited to 2 emotes. I believe however GP, Rengar, Olaf, etc.
Technically, it is the strongest support item to build against malzahar, just because of the mr. So the recommendation isnt wrong. Just out of context. I dont know if it was fixed but i was seeing it constantly recomended to me against yasuo even though his knock up is not blockable with mikael. I can't tell how many times I got this item recommended against Yasuo and Alistar when they have airborne that can't be cleansed with it.
Also yesterday I played the game vs malz as nocturne, and his ult ignored my edge of night. Is that normal interaction? And if it is, why lol. His ult has two parts. For one the puddle under you and then the suppression. Maybe the puddle triggers edge of night? If that's the case that's one of the dumbest interactions in the game.
Malz can easily proc EoN before ulting someone, this makes EoN worthless against him. It is same with Syndra, Spellshields only take away one of the balls. There are other champions like that too. But that somewhat makes sense, because her ult is literally taking balls and throwing them.
With malzahar it doesn't remove anything, you still take full dmg and you are suppressed for 2 seconds. I mean I assume Spellshield does remove some damage from the ult, just not the suppression.
