Where is recall message in outlook 2007

Am I the only idiot that has done this…??? Hey thanks for putting this up. Good stuff! Furthermore, there is really no way to tell unless you ask the recipient.

Donna, Thank you for the helpful tips. I had to use these tips for recalling an email. Does that mean the other recipeints received their email? Unfortunately, if the recipients are not using Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange, the process may not work and you may not receive any notification at all. One of the employees who I support called me a few minutes ago and asked how to recall an email that he had sent.

But I will check for you. I walked him through the process in Outlook over the phone and he successfully got the email retracted. He was pretty happy! Thanks for making me look good today. Hi I sent a message to 3 recipients, then recalled it. I received 3 success messages for all three recipients and 3 failure messages for the 3 recipients all at the same time.

Extremely confused, i was able to ask one of the recipients if they actually received any email from me, and she said no which means it was successful -could be lying though!

How can i know this? Thanks in advance E. Unfortunately, there is no way to know for sure. I sent an email from my home pc by logging into my exchange account at work. After I sent the email, I realized that I sent it to the wrong recipient.

I then connected to the exchange server on my work PC and recalled the message and asked for success or failure message to be sent to me.

I cannot recall from my home pc even when logging into the exchange account from home. I only recalled the message, I did not replace it. Do you think the recall worked? Thank you so much for this information. Other than that, the Recall Options dialog, Notifications, and Tracking look very similar to what we already saw in Outlook Outlook also provides the same functionality.

Things just look a little bit more squarish. Once we open the email from the Sent Items folder, a recall request is submitted from Actions Recall This Message which again opens the same options dialog we saw before.

There is nothing significantly different in Notifications and Tracking either. Again tracking information will be added to the original email on receiving notifications. Here is what tracking looks like:. Message Recall v2. Latest Releases V2. Recalling Emails from Outlook , , , Updated on 1st February to include Outlook instructions.

Recalling Emails from Outlook and Assuming we sent an email that we want to take back, here are the steps to follow in Outlook and Fetch the email to be recalled from the Sent Items folder. Open the email and at the Ribbon click on File. If the recipient reads the original message and then marks it as unread, it is considered never read and recall is successful.

In the public folder, it is the reader's rights, not the sender's, that determine the success or failure of the recall. Important: Office is no longer supported. Upgrade to Microsoft to work anywhere from any device and continue to receive support. Upgrade now. Click Delete unread copies and replace with a new message or Delete unread copies and replace with a new message. Note: If you are sending the message to a large number of people, you may want to clear the Tell me if recall succeeds or fails for each recipient check box.

If you do not see the Recall This Message command, then probably you do not have an Exchange Server account or you are not using Microsoft Office Outlook Both are required to use the recall feature.

You can check the Account Settings dialog box in Outlook for the types of e-mail accounts in your Outlook profile. On the E-mail tab, the Type column lists the type of account for each entry. The success or failure of a recall depends on the recipients' settings in Microsoft Outlook. The following four scenarios explain what happens in various situations, and an additional scenario describes the recall of a message sent to a Microsoft Exchange public folder.

You send an e-mail message to someone. On the recipient's computer, under Tracking Options , the Process requests and responses on arrival check box is selected.

Assuming the original message has not been read, the original message is deleted and the recipient is informed that you, the sender, deleted the message from his or her mailbox. Note: If the original message is marked as read viewing in the Reading Pane is not reading in this scenario when the recall message is processed, the recipient is informed that you, the sender, want to delete the message, but the message remains in the recipient's Outlook folder.

On the recipient's computer, under Tracking Options , the Process requests and responses on arrival check box is not selected.

On the recipient's computer, either by rule or by action of the recipient, the original message is moved to another folder and the recall message remains in the Inbox or it is moved to another folder as well.

As long as the recall message and the original message exist in separate folders, the recipient receives a message indicating that a recall attempt failed. Note: If the recipient read the original message and then marks it as unread, Outlook treats it as if it had never been read and recalls it successfully.

This results in behavior similar to that which occurs when Outlook is not configured to automatically process messages. Note: If the recipient read the original message and then marked it as unread, Outlook treats it as if it had never been read and recalls it successfully. You send an e-mail message to a public folder. If the recipient who reads the recall message has read access to all the items in the public folder but did not read the original message, the recall succeeds, and only the new message remains.

You, the sender, receive a message indicating that the recall succeeded. If a user with any other public folder rights opens the recall message, the recall fails, and the user receives a message indicating that the recall failed.

If the recipient reads the original message and then marks it as unread, Outlook treats it as if it had never been read and recalls it successfully. Send, save, print. Recall or replace an email message that you sent.
