What was the playbook update

If you aren't the type to keep up on daily tech news, you may not know the exact day an OS update has been released for your PlayBook. You may wake up one day and see a new icon on your home screen as seen in the screen at the top of the post. This is the PlayBook's way of alerting you to an OS update. Simply click on Download, and follow the directions to update the OS, which should look similar to the rest of the post below. However, if you are eager for each new OS update and want to randomly check for one, all you have to do is tap on the Settings icon from your home screen.

Find and tap on Software Updates in the column on the left, and then tap on the Check for Updates button to the right. If there is a new OS available, you will see the build number as well as download size for the update.

Click on the Download Now button not pictured to download the update. RIM also fixed the PlayBook's requirement to use messages, contacts and calendar in landscape mode by adding portrait mode. The expanded landscape mode also remains. PlayBook features a runtime Android OS, and the update adds support for the high definition cameras and the ability to make in-app payments.

Science RIM's PlayBook update 'nifty,' but 'too little too late' While tech experts and analysts are impressed with Research In Motion's long-awaited update to its PlayBook tablet, many aren't optimistic it will be enough to prop up the troubled BlackBerry-maker, which has been hard hit by outages, product delays and a plummeting stock price.

Social Sharing. The new features will include: Built-in contacts, calendar and email applications to run on the device itself without having to connect to a BlackBerry phone.

Expanded capabilities on the BlackBerry Bridge to allow your smartphone and tablet to work better together by transitioning tasks from your BlackBerry to your tablet, opening websites, documents and pictures on your tablet from your phone, as well as using your phone as a remote control for your PlayBook. The capability to sync profile information from your connected LinkedIn and Twitter accounts.

Upgrading using the playbook. The upgrade playbook is to be used only while upgrading to the latest available OpenShift Container Storage bits.
